Big Draw, Big Chill: Open Gallery

Launched as a one-day event in 2000, The Big Draw is now an annual month-long festival of over one thousand events across the UK. This year the Gallery joined the campaign for drawing with a month-long community art project across campus: inspired by Stephen Chaplin's fascinating sketchbook collection in the Gallery, sketchbooks will be left in busy meeting places and cafes on campus for everyone to draw in them.

In addition, we will celebrate Big Draw Day on 8 October by transforming the Gallery space into a cosy place where you can drop in to meet people, doodle and have a chat about art, universe and everything. There will be beanbags, pencils, sketchbooks and lots of inspiration.

The sketchbooks collected from campus and the Gallery will be exhibited from 24 October 2011.
