solo exhibition of the works of modern abstract expressionist, Andrew John Thompson
Solo Exhibition - June 28th - July 29th 2010 at:
Leeds Design Innovation centre, 46 The Calls, Leeds, LS2 7EY -(all works will be available for sale)
Andrew John Thompson is a modern abstract expressionist who currently lives and works in Leeds. He was born in Chorley, Lancashire in 1985. He graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2007 studying graphic arts and design BA(HONS).
Since then he has concentrated exclusively on painting. Andrew has developed unusual techniques in making his paintings - he usually begins his process by extracting dried layers of acrylic from the canvas, forming skin-like sheets which he reapplies and manipulates in various ways.
Andrew' painting, 'Head Of A Poet' is to be exhibited at the saatchi gallery, London summer 2010
His works derive from his subconscious as he explores the relationship between his subconscious and conscious mind. Many of his works are autobiographical and are triggered by personal experiences and inspired by past and current world events.
