Ceramics Workshop with Mark Burns Cassell at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery
Ceramics Workshop with Mark Burns Cassell
Saturday, 22 September 2012, 1.30-4pm
Mark Burns Cassell's unfussy, yet beautiful wheel-thrown pottery takes inspiration from the strong shapes of functional Mediaeval pottery, as well as ancient Roman and Greek curves.
This hands-on, fun workshop will enable participants of all ability levels to engage with clay materials. Guided by Mark, you will be encouraged to try a range of techniques from coil pots to hand building, slab rollering and sculpture. You will choose one or two techniques to focus on and produce something practical or decorative - whether this be a vase, bowl, or sculptural piece.
The work will be glazed by Mark (optional for a small fee). Please note that all work will need to be taken away at the end of the session in order for it to be dried and fired. Fired pots will be returned to the gallery for collection after the event.
Suitable for all ages.
Free workshop, but places are limited so please book your place in advance by e-mailing gallery@leeds.ac.uk, phone (0113) 343 2778, or online at http://mbc-ceramics.eventbrite.co.uk/
