We don't know what you did this summer. Tell us. Draw it. Map it. Write it.

Does X always mark the treasure? Or the best ice cream in the village? Or the spot where Jill lost her sunglasses? Does the coastline look like an old woman's face? Can you remember the way to the Post Office in Skegness? In Torremolinos? In the Andes?

Inspired by the gallery's special display 'Home and Away' and Arthur Ransome's unforgettable 'Swallows and Amazons' featured in the forthcoming exhibition 'Illustrators between the Wars' (open from 18 September), the Gallery workshop invites you to explore private and fictitious maps, learn about ancient maps and basic mapping techniques, and relive your summer adventures or those long-gone holidays with guitars, campfires, pirates and treehouses.

You will have the chance to peep into priceless original author's sketches of maps, such as Arthur Ransome, Kevin Crossley-Holland and Herbert Read. We will also be revisiting works of Milne, Tolkien and young T. S. Spivet - bring your own adventure, we have the pencils.

Suitable for all ages.

Free workshop, but places are limited so please book your place in advance by e-mailing gallery@leeds.ac.uk, phone (0113) 343 2778, or online at http://mapsareawesome.eventbrite.co.uk
