Janet Cardiff: The Fory Part Motet - Special Events

The exhibition of Janet Cardiff’s sound sculpture The Forty Part Motet (http://www.operanorth.co.uk/events/voices-forty-part-motet)
in the Howard Assembly Room (4 Feb to 3 March) will be accompanied by a series of events inviting the public to engage with the piece and the space in various ways.

An opportunity for young people aged 14-19 to get up close and personal with the The Forty Part Motet and experiment with music, space and sound effects, alongside the installation.

Join us for a fascinating insight into international artist Janet Cardiff’s The Forty Part Motet with a panel of specialist speakers from the worlds of art and music, chaired by Charlotte Higgins (The Guardian). The panel will come together to discuss the piece, Janet Cardiff’s wider body of work and the broader relationship between contemporary art and classical music.

Get up close and personal with Janet Cardiff’s The Forty Part Motet, by learning to sing Thomas Tallis’ sublime Spem in Alium for yourself. Join Opera North’s chorus master Tim Burke for an enjoyable morning getting to grips with this masterpiece of Renaissance choral music. For singers with some experience.
