Idea Everything you wanted to know about colours, emotions and associations, but were afraid to ask.... Free informal talk about colours in art and everyday life by Dr Jim Nobbs at the Gallery. DON'T MISS IT!

Saturday, 6 November, 2pm:

Dr Jim Nobbs will be talking about the psychology of colour, and the emotions and associations they evoke in art and everyday life, with special attention to the use of colours in the design and conservation of ceramics.

This is an informal and accessible talk for everyone interested in the way we use and understand colours around us.

Dr Nobbs and Prof Norman Tennent won the Anna Plowden Award, the 'Oscar' of the heritage conservation world in 2007 by using the latest colour science to enable conservators to see how their pigments and glazes will look in artificial light and when photographed. He is a lecturer in the Colour Chemistry Department and his main research interests are the effects that the appearance of objects have on our emotional state, and the relationships between language based descriptions of appearance.

Free, no booking necessary.
