The Delicate Art of Chinese Calligraphy
Saturday 23rd November 2013 2-4pm
A workshop focused on the delicate and age old tradition of Chinese Calligraphy. Come and learn about the history of this beuatiful artform and have a go yourself!
To tie in with the opening of the Leeds Confucius Institute and their display of work in the gallery The Unsurpassed Oriental Art - The Painting and Calligraphy of Gu Feng, The Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery will be hosting a workshop focused on the delicate and age old tradition of Chinese Calligraphy.
With an introduction to this art form and a subsequent demonstration, participants will then be encouraged to try out and develop this distinguished form of writing and expression using genuine brush pens, ink sticks and ink slabs.
Traditional Chinese Tea will also be served and a short documentary film introducing participants to the history and evolution of the characters behind the language will also be on show.
Suitable for ages 12+.
This is a free workshop but please remember that spaces are limited so booking is a must!
