Dreams of Art & Science: A talk from James McKay

Join James McKay, illustrator and manager of the Dreams of a low carbon future project as he talks about the complex relationship between Art and Science.

James Mckay is a comic artist and illustrator who works with academic researchers to visualise their ideas. He believes that drawings, paintings, comic strips and models can be a wonderful way to bring challenging science subjects to life in order make them more accessible to the public.

James will present the graphic novel Dreams of a Low Carbon Future - a collaboration between more than 20 artists and designers, hundreds of school children and University of Leeds academics. He will also discuss other work crossing the divide between art and science, for example reconstructions of dinosaurs and ancient environments.

This is a free event, open to all. Just turn up.

The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, University of Leeds, LS2 9JT. Email: gallery@leeds.ac.uk. Telephone: 0113 3432778
